Itäkeskus is now Itis
Itäkeskus, the largest shopping centre in the Nordic countries, has for a long time been familiarly known as Itis. This is now its official name too. The renaming is the start of a complete overhaul of the shopping centre aimed at making Itis not only the largest but the most attractive in the Nordic countries.
The renovation has already begun in the parking garages and in the area between the Piazza and Bulevardi. The Itäkeskus overhaul is a complex project that includes not only renovation of the indoor and outdoor premises of the shopping centre but other component projects too: the functionality of the commercial premises will be improved, and top international chains will be added to the selection of shops for increased attractiveness. Attention will also be paid to other factors that contribute to visitor comfort, such as security, cleaning, parking and signage. The overhaul is being undertaken in stages, so the shopping centre will remain open for business as usual.
The website has also been redesigned as itis.fi, and it will be further tweaked during the months to come.
